The Libertarian party of Minnesota has been active and productive this Fall – supporting the campaigns of our LPMN-endorsed Candidates on the ballot, as well as doing preliminary planning for next year. This newsletter relates some of the significant activities and events that the LPMN has been involved in during Fall of 2024, and discusses some upcoming events and activities that are planned for 2025.

LPMN-endorsed Candidates Found Traction in Minnesota Races This Year

Rebecca Whiting

Rebecca Whiting’s US Senate campaign renewed our Minor Party status for another two election cycles because she garnered at least 1% of the statewide vote. Her performance set two new LPMN records! Her 1.7% is the highest percentage for a US Senate race, and her total votes (over 55,000) surpasses Chris Dock’s previous record in his 2018 race for state auditor. Rebecca appeared at multiple public events throughout Minnesota, and also appeared on multiple media channels – podcasts and radio. This was a very important race for the LPMN. Rebecca and the Party are grateful for the strong support from the large number of LPMN members that made this campaign possible.

TJ Hawthorne

TJ Hawthorne for MN House District 44B ran a very strong race earning nearly 6% of the vote in his District, further improving on his performance in that District two years ago. TJ also ran a strong campaign with public appearances and campaign literature distribution within his District. TJ is grateful to the many LPMN members who supported him in his campaign.

Several LPMN-endorsed Won Their Elections

Harrison Hicks

Harrison Hicks was re-elected to Helga Township Board of Supervisors.

Jake Dahl

Jake Dahle was re-elected to Ashby City Council.

Mary O'Connor

Mary O’Connor was elected to the board of Brooklyn Center School District 286. This feat was especially impressive because it was a contested race.

As of publication, we know of at least two other LPMN members who won local/municipal races but did not seek endorsement from the LPMN and were not asked for comment before the release of this newsletter.

National Synergy

Chase Oliver

In the National election, Chase Oliver and Mike ter Maat collected approximately 0.5% of the Minnesota vote in a very crowded field for President and Vice President. Chase and Rebecca campaigned together at the State Fair and on various talk radio programs and podcasts, helping and inspiring one another.
