The Libertarian party of Minnesota has been active and productive the first half of this year. We’re going to relate some of the significant activities and events that LPMN has been involved in, and discuss some upcoming events that are planned during 2nd half 2024.

Defend the Guard Rally at St Paul Capitol Building March 2024

The LPMN participated in a coalition with several other Political Parties and mission-driven organizations to protest the continued use of National Guard troops to perpetuate undeclared wars overseas. The coalition included several speakers from the Libertarian Party, the Republican Party, the Constitutional Republic Party, and the Movement for People’s Democracy. The LPMN’s then soon-to-be nominated candidate for US Senate Rebecca Whiting gave an inspiring speech about her time deployed overseas and
her commitment to work to prevent future US involvement in undeclared wars.

LPMN Convention April 2024 in Duluth

The LPMN held a very successful Convention in Duluth this past April. We completed all normal Convention business, including the election of new members to the LPMN Board and Platform/ByLaws Committee, electing our Delegation to the LP National Convention, and endorsing Candidates to represent the LPMN at the General Election this November.

We also passed all proposed Platform/ByLaws Amendments which was a first. Often time runs out at Convention before all PBC Amendments can be considered. But this year we got it all done!

The LPMN also hosted an informative debate of six Candidates seeking nomination to be the LP Presidential Candidate including Chase Oliver and Mike ter Maat who received the endorsement for POTUS and VP at the subsequent LP National Convention.

Multi-tasking and Teamwork in May

The LPMN was able to send a Delegation to the LP National Convention while still successfully conducting Ballot Access Petition Drives at home in MN!

LPMN managed to send a full Delegation to the LP National Convention in Washington DC, while at the same time conducting successful ballot access petition drives to get our LPMN nominated candidates Rebecca Whiting for US Senate and TJ Hawthorne for MN House 44B on the ballot this Fall. These efforts required significant commitment by everyone involved. A core group led the Delegation in DC while many chose to remain in MN to dedicate their time to collecting signatures. We did it! Congratulations and appreciation to everyone who contributed on both of these important efforts.

More Ballot Access Petitioning in June and July for our LP Candidates for POTUS/VP

With little time to rest after the successful ballot access petitioning in May, LPMN has begun another ballot access petition drive – this time to get the LP-endorsed Candidates Chase Oliver and Mike ter Maat on the ballot for President and Vice President.

LPMN has historically been present at Pride Fest in Minneapolis. In addition to our normal Outreach efforts, this year Pride Fest was also an excellent venue for beginning the petition drive for POTUS/VP – LPMN collected over 400 signatures at Pride Fest.

Rebecca and TJ are on the ballot thanks to our efforts, but we need more signatures to reach the required 2,000 for Chase and Mike. We need your help! Print a copy of the petition on standard 8-1/2 x 11 paper and mail it to the LPMN office with your signature and hopefully those of some friends.

Mail to:

The petition link has been removed due to the closure of the petition window. We are happy to announce that we were successful in getting the LP’s Presidential/Vice-Presidential ticket on the ballot in Minnesota!

LPMN will be at 3 County Fairs this July and August

LPMN has more events planned for this Summer, including a booth or table at three County Fairs. LPMN will continue ballot access petitioning for our POTUS/VP Candidates at these Fairs, as well as doing Outreach to sign up new members in the LPMN. Here are the three County Fair dates:

  • Scott County Fair: Wednesday, July 24th through Sunday, July 28th, 2024
  • Washington County Fair: Wednesday, July 31st through Sunday, August 4th, 2024
  • Beltrami County Fair: Wednesday, August 7th through Sunday, August 11th, 2024

Please use the signup links to help us out and make sure those who attend these events are able to hear our message!

LPMN at the State Fair

And of course, our single largest annual Outreach Event is the LPMN Booth at the MN State Fair. The Great Minnesota Get-Together!

LPMN will be at the MN State Fair again this year, sharing our message of Liberty, signing up new members to grow the LPMN, and selling some really great tee-shirts. Look for our new tee-shirt designs this year. The LPMN Booth is located near the corner of Judson Ave and Nelson St with the DNR building right behind us.

Please use the signup link to volunteer at the State Fair this year!

Oh, and stay posted for other possible significant events at the Fair. It’s too early to confirm, but expect to see one or more of our LP Candidates at the State Fair.

That’s what we have scheduled so far. Be looking for other Campaign Events for our LPMN Candidates
prior to the November Election.
